Overview
v-GO® Session ManagerTM
Kiosks are convenient because users can access various applications and computing resources while roaming across facilities during their workday without having to run back to their PCs. Kiosk use is expected to increase 60 percent through 2008 as organizations with large numbers of roaming users turn to them. But too often users walk away without logging off, potentially exposing sensitive data to the wrong set of eyes. In hospitals and manufacturing shop floors, where kiosks are becoming very popular, this poses a serious security risk.
v-GO® Session Manager (v-GO SM), addresses this security threat. v-GO SM provides automated termination of inactive sessions and application shutdown. Inactive sessions end after a period of time predetermined by a systems administrator, and the kiosk returns to a ready state for the next user.
v-GO SM also enables organizations to implement v-GO Single Sign-On in their kiosks. Historically single sign-on hasn't worked in kiosks because they do not maintain user-specific sessions, so a single sign-on system would have no way of knowing which user's credentials to use. v-GO SM provides that information to v-GO SSO, and as a result users may enjoy the convenience of a single username/password combination to access all the applications and resources they need.
